Going all the way to the national finals

13 Nov, 2009 03:30 PM
FIVE Tenterfield girls have made it to the Australian titles after wowing the judges at the Physical Culture zone competition.

Twenty-three Tenterfield performers between four and 14 years old travelled to Coffs Harbour at the end of October to compete against towns including Port Macquarie, Ballina, Grafton, Casino and Lismore.

Associate teacher Jude Hayne said two teams had competed for the first time in many years.

“This is the best result we have had for about nine years,” she said.

“We draw from a town of 3000 and Port Macquarie draws on a town of about 71,000. To have so many of our girls make the final is really special.”

The girls who will now compete at the Australian championships at Home Bush in Sydney on November 29 are: Jessica Brierley, Kate Lee, Stacey Hayne, Jennah Haddock and Angela Schofield.

Mrs Hayne said Tenterfield Physical Culture had 52 members between “three and 103”, with mothers also joining for exercise.

“It’s about fun, fitness, family and friends,” Mrs Hayne said.
