The number of people that attended services last Friday, May 15, for Stephen Dark and Nathan Warham were testament to the lives they touched during their short time in Tenterfield.
Hundreds of people gathered alongside the two men’s families to farewell 19-year-old Stephen Dark at a memorial service at the Anglican Christ Church from 10am Friday and at a funeral for 21-year-old Nathan Warham at St Mary’s Catholic Church from midday.
A large crowd filled the Anglican Church and extended into the attached hall where Stephen Dark’s memorial service was relayed over a video link. The gathering mourned Stephen’s loss and celebrated the life of an intelligent, cheerful and positive young man.
Stephen’s friends said Stephen was a true, kind and genuine friend that would do anything for his mates. They said he was a determined, hard worker with a passion for art and screen-printing.
At midday, the Catholic Church was filled to capacity with the family and friends of Nathan Warham. Those gathered heard of a friend, son and brother that was a great and loyal mate, who loved a good chat and also loved to listen.
Nathan’s friends described their shock at the loss of a person they were proud to call a mate. His family described Nathan as someone who was never even seen with a frown and hoped those who knew him would take on Nathan’s acceptance of people for who they are.
