Shock death

23 Sep, 2009 10:27 AM
FAMILY and friends are mourning the loss of 30 year old father of three Danny Thomas who died suddenly at his Sunnyside property on Sunday morning.

At this stage it is not known what caused Mr Thomas’ sudden death in a paddock behind the home he shared with wife Liz, six year old son Jacob, three year old daughter Chloe and five month old daughter Hollie.

Well-known locally and in his former home district of Bangalow for his horsemanship, Mr Thomas worked on his property breaking-in and training horses and was Livestock Manager at Alford and Duff First National, Tenterfield.

Steve Alford of Alford and Duff said on Monday, “How can you say enough nice things about Danny? He was the most honest, family-orientated, well-respected man that I can ever remember. He was an absolute gentleman. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

“He was the most capable horse person I’ve ever met. The horse sale last year (the first one in Tenterfield for 30 years) was Danny’s idea. And the hobby farm sale we’re having on October 10 was Danny’s dream as well and he’s worked very hard on that.

‘The other thing he was doing was learning the art of auctioneering. He was very passionate about his work.”

Details of Mr Thomas’ funeral have not been finalised at this stage. There will be one minute’s silence in honour of him at the next Tenterfield cattle sale on Monday.
