Tenterfield misses most of the rain and flooding

02 Feb, 2012 12:19 PM
THE Tenterfield branch of the State Emergency Service (SES) say local residents have missed out on most of the heavy rain and flash flooding that has wreaked havoc in other parts of NSW.

In the last 48hours local crews have only been called out to two flood assistant incidents, one of which was to help an elderly couple cross Rocky River to attend a medical appointment.

However a couple of local SES workers are also believed to be on standby and may be called out to assist with rescue efforts in Moree and Tamworth if they are needed.

The SES is expected to evacuate a number of residents in north Moree including Pallamallawa who will have their homes inundated with floodwater.

More to come.
