As much as breast cancer fund raising is deserved and is a good thing it should be remembered that the number of deaths for women by suicide are only very slightly below breast cancer. Yet the number of fund raising events to help mental health and thus reduce deaths in women are far and few between. Could it be that society still has a repulsion regarding mental health?

I am not disparaging the efforts to raise funds for breast cancer research. However it should be noted that while breast cancer for women accounts for about 2.5 million deaths worldwide that suicide for women is almost the same number. That is not counting the attempts which fail or are thwarted. One would wish to see more fundraising for mental health than currently is the case.
