St Josephs hall opened

ST Joseph’s Primary School officially opened its new hall and classroom on Friday with a blessing of the new buildings.

The works were completed with funding raised by the school and more than $1 million from the federal government’s Building the Education Revolution program.

The 240 square metre hall includes a covered outdoor learning area, kitchen and toilets.

Diocesan director of Catholic schools for the Armidale Diocese John Mula said there had been a high level of local input into the building and the hall would be of great value to the school.

“We are celebrating the latest chapter in St Joseph’s history, from its most humble beginnings in 1880,” Mr Mula said.

The ceremony included a blessing by parish priest Father Barry Leech. Current school principal Geraldine Holland welcomed former school principal Geoff Sullivan to the opening.

The event was also attended by Member for New England Tony Windsor.
