Hat trick for Tigers

THE Tenterfield Tigers under 18s have made it a hat trick of wins after they were triumphant over Warialda on the weekend.

The win looked to be in shaky hands with five minutes remaining with the Tigers down 28-26 before fullback Alistair Middleton scooped up a down town kick, applied some fancy footwork and raced 70m with blistering speed to touchdown and seal the win for the Tigers.

In the ladies league tag match, the Tigers hit back in style after a loss to Inverell last week coming away with a big 32-4 win.

This is the girls’ second win from their last three games. Meg Landers was a standout, bagging two tries, kicking two goals and picking up the players’ player award.

The reserve grade match was a tight affair with the loyal band of supporters believing the Tigers were going to pick up the two points.

However, after a brave fight back, the Tigers had to settle with just the one point as the match played out in an 18 all draw.

This week sees all three grades travel to Uralla on Saturday.

The A grade boys will be out of action again for another week as like Warialda, Uralla don’t field an A Grade team.

Thank you to all supporters who bought tickets in the recent wood raffle. The lucky winner was Ken Williams from Ballandean.
