Fine feathers take the cake at poultry show

THE Truran family ended its show season on a high, taking out Bird of Show at the recent Stanthorpe Poultry Show with one of its plymouth rock pullets.

Tracy Truran said she thought this was quite an achievement considering that the crown usually goes to a rooster.

The winning pullet is a daughter of last year’s plymouth rock national bird of show, boding well for her run as a hen next show season.

Young Joseph Truran is upholding the family reputation, winning champion junior handler in a large field with one of his partridge cockerels, following up with a reserve champion ribbon with one of his mum’s dark barred hens.
