Two new directors for Tenterfield Shire Council

TENTERFIELD Shire Council has announced it has appointed two new directors.

Allan Shorter has been appointed director of corporate services and community sustainability, and Dennis Gascoigne will be the new director of engineering services.

Both positions have been vacant and filled in an acting capacity for some time.

Mr Shorter most recently worked at Bundaburg Regional Council for four years.

He has more than 35 years of experience working in local government in NSW and Queensland in corporate, financial and community roles including the last 21 years in the executive roles of director and manager.

Council general manager Lotta Jackson said Mr Shorter would bring a wealth of knowledge to share with staff and the community.

“He is looking forward to moving to Tenterfield and will commence with council on Monday, August 27,” Ms Jackson said.

Mr Gascoigne has more than 15 years hands-on and managerial experience building both major engineering infrastructure projects and smaller complex projects, rangíng in value from $l million to $150 million.

He also runs his own software company developing quality control programs currently used by civil engineering construction companies and Queensland Transport and Main Roads.

Ms Jackson said Mr Gascoigne had property in Tenterfield and was “looking forward to settling here permanently and working with the staff to progress council's asset infrastructure for the benefit of the community”.

He will start on Monday, September 24.
