Students from Years 9 and 10 travelled to Sydney in June as part of a Food Technology excursion with Mr Ash helping get 36 kids down there.
On their travels the students spent time at Centrepoint Tower, attended State Of Origin, went jet boating on Sydney Harbour and stayed in accommodation at Taronga Zoo.
“It was lots of fun – it was very interesting waking up to the noises (at the zoo),” high school student Josie McIntyre said.
“The State Of Origin was great because NSW won (that game),” she said.
Dining at Centrepoint Tower made for an interesting experience too.
“We got to go through the kitchen and have a buffet but because it spins you would turn around and get a bit lost,” Josie said.
Thankfully for students and teachers alike, they were able to chalk up their State Of Origin attendance as a learning experience.
“We were looking at how things are done with takeaway food at a large event,” Josie said.
Mr Ash thanked high school teacher James Strachan and the students for the kind gesture and said he was eager to display the shirt, signed by the 36 students, at the front of his Mitre 10 store.
The trip also coincided with a high school basketball trip with the side coached by Mr Ash playing in the last 16 of the competition only to be beaten out by Homebush.
