A MAN is due to face court following the alleged assault of two Tenterfield police officers on Thursday night.

About 9.30pm, police stopped a vehicle on Douglas Street, and spoke to the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
The officers subsequently searched the vehicle as well as the three occupants.
While searching one of the men, it is alleged he resisted police, so he was arrested.
The man was taken to Tenterfield Police Station and whilst there, police will further allege the man resisted police and assaulted two officers.
Police subdued the man and he was subsequently charged with assault police, resist arrest and assault police occasioning actual bodily harm.
The 40-year-old man was refused bail and will appear in Armidale Local Court on Friday.
One male officer was taken to Tenterfield Hospital for treatment of swelling and bruising to his face.
The second male officer was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics for treatment of bruising and swelling to his face.
