A 49-YEAR-OLD Urbenville man has been charged with eight offences after he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase.

The man was refused bail in Lismore Local Court and had his case adjourned to August.
He had previously been disqualified from driving until 2021 and is now accused of leading police on a car chase along Tooloom Rd.
When police visited a home at Urbenville on Friday night about a disturbance around 8.45pm, officers allege they saw a Subaru utility driving off at high speed.
The vehicle was allegedly sighted on Tooloom Rd soon after, a pursuit was initiated and it is alleged the driver unsuccessfully tried to ram open the gate of a property.
After a struggle with police, he was arrested at the scene and a search of his car uncovered a shortened rifle and ammunition.
The man was taken to Woodenbong police station where he allegedly returned a mid-range alcohol reading of 0.136.
He was taken to Lismore police station, charged with eight offences and refused bail.
