Phoebe was selected in the North West PSSA team back in April, along with twelve other girls from the region.
This is the second year that Phoebe has represented the school at a state level for soccer, but she has also participated in swimming at a state level.
Phoebe attended many coaching clinics leading up to the state competition for soccer. This training was held in Armidale and Tamworth.
This dedication to the sport shows that Phoebe has a keen interest in soccer and an obvious overall ability and enjoyment of the game.
Phoebe is a versatile player as she can play any position on the field, however she enjoys playing centre back. She played in the centre back position for most games at the carnival.
The team played seven games in total over three days of competition. They were up against some tough competition, especially the city regions. All games were close with most games having a goal difference of only one or two.
The girls won three to nil against the Riverina Region on the last day. At the end of the carnival, Phoebe was presented with the 'Players Player' award in the form of a medal.
This medal was presented to Phoebe in recognition of her sportsmanship, skills and team leadership as part of the North West squad.
Phoebe attended the three day carnival with the support of her mum and dad. Phoebe plays soccer with the Northern Inland soccer squad each Sunday in Coffs Harbour.
She also plays for the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School team. This school team will play against Guyra on Tuesday in the fourth round of the PSSA knockout.
A win in Guyra would put the school team through to the regional finals.
As her coach in the school competition, I am confident that Phoebe Cooper will be a name that will be associated with soccer well into the future, and not just within Tenterfield.
