Saturday’s usual divisional matches were a dress rehearsal for the main event, Sunday’s annual Tenterfield Soccer Carnival.

This year the carnival attracted hundreds of players from Glen Innes, Stanthorpe and Warwick all looking to showcase their talents on the soccer field.

Tenterfield players showed great character and teamwork across all divisions and represented our club to the best of their abilities.

The Tenterfield Carnival would not be the same without the ‘lolly tent’ and kids flocked to get their confectionery fix for the day.

Homebaking, fresh coffee and a variety of hot food ensured that participants left Shirley Park with culinary contention.

Hosting a carnival involves a great deal of time and effort behind the scenes, and would not be possible without the dedication of our committee members.

Thanks to everyone that volunteered on the day, from catering and setting-up helpers to coaches and referees. Special mention must go to our president, Ron Bridge, and to the Tenterfield Lions Club who volunteered to provide a mouth-watering feast for everyone.

This carnival is our main fundraiser each year and the support of the community is appreciated. Hopefully everyone slept well on Sunday evening and don’t forget that the final carnival in Glen Innes is only a fortnight away on Sunday, August 24.

The results from the weekend’s action are as follows; Division 1 – Mohawks v Trojans 3-3, Rangers v Wolves 3-4. Division 2 – Mohawks v Trojans 0-0, Rangers v Wolves 2-1. Division 3 – Mohawks v Trojans (Trojans won on forfeit), Rangers v Wolves 3-3. Division 4 – Mohawks v Trojans 1-2, Rangers v Wolves 4-1. Division 5 – Mohawks v Trojans, Rangers v Wolves.

This week’s draw is as follows; Division 1 – 9.00am Mohawks v Wolves, 10.15am Rangers v Trojans (both games on Field 1).   Division 2 – 9.00am Rangers v Trojans, 10.40am Mohawks v Wolves (both games on Field 2).  Division 3 – 9.50am Mohawks v Wolves (Field 2), 9.50am Rangers v Trojans (Field 3).  Division 4 – 9.00am Rangers v Trojans, 10.40am Mohawks v Wolves (both games on Field 3). Division 5 – 9.00am Mohawks v Wolves, 10.00am Rangers v Trojans (both games on Field 4).
