Since 2003, NRMA Insurance has been working with local community organisations in the areas of crime prevention, road safety, emergency readiness and response and the environment.
Ten FM were one of 92 groups across NSW and 156 nationwide fortunate enough to receive the support this year.
“We put in for it and were lucky enough to receive some money,” Ten FM station manager Rebecca Carpenter said.
The funding will see Ten FM purchase a back-up generator to ensure their coverage is not affected in the event of power failures.
“We were lucky enough for it not to happen during the floods."

“But if the power goes out, we go out,” she said.
A brownout three years ago caused serious damage and ended up costing the station $15,000.
“It’s an expensive business radio,” she said.
Having the means to purchase back up equipment will go a long way to avoiding any similar costs down the track Ms Carpenter said.
