Premier Meats and Wizards Butchery sent some of their prized creations to the New England leg of the NSW/ACT Sausage King and Best Butchers Burger Competitions last week.
Wizard’s lamb, mint and rosemary burger walked away with the tag of best butcher burger in the entire region.
Premier Meats notched up a first, three seconds and two thirds.
Their German Bratwurst was judged to be the best on show at the hotly contested competition.
“My word we’re pleased – they’re good results,” Tim Rose from Premier Meats said.
It’s hardly the first time the local butcher has taken away a swag of awards and Mr Rose said he chalked it up to customer feedback.
“I would put it down to consistency – we try a lot of recipes, come up with different flavours and look for customer feedback."

“I would put it down to consistency – we try a lot of recipes, come up with different flavours and look for customer feedback,” he said.
Shane Rose from Wizards Butchery said they were thrilled to be acknowledged yet again.
“You have to be happy with that – everything has been positive and we’ve had really good feedback,” he said.
Since taking on the shop five years ago Wizards has had success at a state and national level.
Judges made their decisions based on the uncooked appearance and colour of the sausages, whether the skin split when it was cooked, and the texture and flavour of the meat.
“It’s not just the old bangers and mash anymore – these are gourmet sausages,” judge and hospitality TAFE teacher Ron Lightfoot said.
The two butchers will now progress to the state finals to be held in Wollongong in October.
