With whitewash wins in divisions one and two, the Mohawks took home the grand final honours, followed respectively by the Trojans and the Rangers in almost inseparable runner-up positions.
The Rangers made a comeback in division three to top the Wolves, while in division four the Rangers claimed the grand final win over the Mohawks.
Division 5 players all received participation trophies for their continued development, enthusiasm and involvement throughout the season.
Players across all divisions put in superb performances to close the season going into the summer break.
The young contenders closed a successful round-robin competition season, taking on their parents in a special season final match.
Mohawks, Trojans, Rangers and Wolves collided with their parents on the field in an all-out showcase of junior talent accrued throughout the season.
The highlight of the morning was undoubtedly the parents v players matches that took place at the conclusion of the usual round robin matches. The players did not hold back as they showcased their soccer skills in taking on the parents. No doubt the mums and dads were a little sore on Father’s Day but it was all for a great cause!
Individual awards were presented to players that had continued to develop throughout the season and displayed great sportsmanship both on and off the field.
Training award recipients were Kaitlyn Azzopardi (Division 1), Matilda Mitchell (Division 2), Bridie Makejev (Division 3) and Jim Brown (Division 4).
Encouragement awards went to Thomas Newman (Division 1), Josh Petrie (Division 2), Sahri Clark (Division 3) and Archie George (Division 4).
The recipient of the Ernie Phillips Award was Josh Murphy. Josh showed great sportsmanship, enthusiasm and dedication through the season and deservedly took out the coveted award.
Ron Bridge presented the President’s Award this year to Graham Roots, a member of the soccer community who was consistently on hand to help out during weekly competitions.
The committee also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the players and their parents throughout the season, with a keen eye on a bigger and better season in 2015.
