Registration for junior cricket will be held on Wednesday, October 22 from 5 – 6pm at Shirley Park with the junior cricket games and skills sessions to commence on Thursday, October 23 from 3:15 – 4:30pm at the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School.
Depending on numbers to form teams, we are looking at an eight a side program for children who display some fundamental skills in cricket, and a modified skills program and diamond cricket for the beginners.
All children are encouraged to play junior cricket from kindergarten through to year seven. Registration is just $30 and for an additional $40 participants can also purchase the Milo in2cricket gear that includes a coloured shirt, hat, backpack and cricket equipment.
Senior Cricket has moved to a Wednesday evening at 6pm and will commence from October 22.
The aim of senior cricket is to provide men and women of all ages as well as high school students with the opportunity to play a social game, meet up with friends or new people and have fun and be active. There are no sheep stations on offer and no one bowls fast.
The games are fair and sportsmanship and honesty runs each game as players are usually the umpires. The association has cricket kits containing quality equipment that can be used by players at no cost.
This year we already have three strong teams consisting of thirteen players. Unless we get a fourth team, each team will play a format of two weeks on, one week bye.
Any other teams will be required to be registered by Friday, October 10. There are still positions available in each team, as some players are only part time due to work commitments.
Each week the game will start promptly at 6pm and consist of 25 over innings (75 minutes maximum) with a 15 minute break between innings.
Bowlers are limited to three overs each and batters will retire if they reach 50 runs. The time limit will mean that games will conclude by 8:45pm at the latest so players and spectators can get home to family.
The cost of senior registration is $70 and $45 for high school students. This includes all match fees and insurance for the season.
