Tenterfield’s Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Eaton has labelled the offenders “grubs” as police continue their inquiries.
“Several residents in Tenterfield have been the subject of steal from motor vehicle offences in the last week.
“In the early hours of Thursday morning, a number of vehicles were entered unlawfully, along with an attempt to steal a safe from a gym in High Street,” Sergeant Eaton said.
Police have encouraged anyone who saw a White Commodore driving around Tenterfield last Thursday morning to contact them.
Sergeant Eaton said any help in identifying the occupants of the stolen vehicle would go a long way to helping their investigations.
“This vehicle was stolen from a Logan Street address earlier that night and left abandoned on Federation oval.
“Crime Scene officers attended Tenterfield on Thursday and conducted examinations in town.
"It's extremely disappointing that a small number of persons in town chose to think that stealing others property is acceptable. It is not acceptable, and Police are doing everything possible they can to identify the offenders.
“Local Police also need the assistance of locals, and anyone with any information, no matter how small it is, to please call the station or Crimestoppers. It may be just the info we need to lock these grubs up".
Sergeant Eaton said that a caravan left vacant for a few hours was also broken into on Saturday night.
“Whilst the owners went to dinner (the caravan) was entered, and a quantity of electronic devices, jewellery and cash taken. If anyone has been offered cheap electronic items or jewellery, please come forward.”
