A large crowd got along to the event last Saturday with every player taking home a trophy for their contributions.
Most Valuable Players for the under 7’s was Jakheem Binge, under 8’s Jayden Swan and under 10’s Braith Clarke.
The under 12’s, 14’s Most Valuable Player awards are picked throughout the year by people in the crowd.
Each player is ranked on a 3, 2, 1 points system as the best player on the day.
Aymon Rhodes and Brandon Brown were voted the Most Valuable Players for the 2014 season.
The prestigious Golden Bear award went to Jacc Pittis Wilson.
The Border Bears JRL select three players to attend a camp at Runaway Bay who the committee believe will benefit from extra training and skills and hopefully register for the 2015 season with the Bears.
Thanks to some support from Klas Accounting over a number of years there has been funding for up and coming young footballers to improve their knowledge and skills during the camp.
These players are Zac Leiberman, Jacob Cox, Tyler Sargeant and Matthew Carpenter.
The club persons of the year went to Polly Sargeant and Nic Saccon for all their tireless work throughout the season.
“Countless hours were spent behind the scenes to enable all these young children to take the field week after week,” Kym Landers said.
Club stalwart David Landers was recognised for his longstanding work for the teams.
“David has been recognised for 15 years of service to the Border Bears JRL. David has been part of the Bears since they started in 2000. He has been President for the majority of them, only handing over the reins this year to Ian O’Rourke and Peter Holley for the 2015 Season,” Kym said.
David handed over the President Role in 2014 to become President of the Warwick and District but will continue to play a part in the club.
“Congratulations to all the players that received trophies as there are way too many to mention everyone,” Ms Landers said.
