It has gained notoriety as one of the largest fundraising events of the year for the local Legacy branch and there is little wonder why, with 27 teams turning out for last weekend’s annual four-person charity Ambrose.

Players turned out from as far as Brisbane to contest the event taken out by local contenders David and Sharon Gianini, Richard Reardon and Rob Lee.
The team returned a nett score of 50.5 to pip second place runners M and L Williams, B Dale and T Schiffmann returning nett 51.25.
Local golfer Michael Manser said the event is a club favourite.
“The Ambrose format is always a favourite,” he said.
Legatee Peter Zeller dubbed the golf day a great success and said it showed the breadth of community spirit in Tenterfield.
“It really showed a lot of community spirit,” he said.
“Not only were the sponsors very generous, but the players were also very generous in their own right.”
Mr Zeller estimated the event raised around $6000 in funds to be redistributed to around 40 war widows living in the local area.
“We only have a very small group of workers, but they are each very dedicated” he said.
Both the Golf Club and local Fishing Club made considerable donations towards the total, Mr Zeller said.
Close to $2000 was raised in green fees, with a further $500 donated from the beverage cart, while the local Fishing Club donated a further $1000 towards the total sum.
“It was the second year they have donated and it really is very generous,” Mr Zeller said.
