More than 30 bikes set out from Tenterfield last year and organiser Wayne Lusty said he was hoping for an even bigger response this trip.
The annual toy run has been running for approximately 30 years and Mr Lusty said this could prove to be their hardest yet.
Co-founder and organiser Tony Watt passed away earlier this year and Wayne said his loss has made the process significantly harder.
“Unfortunately Tony won’t be here – it’s going to be hard,” he said.
He’ll have plenty of aid from bikers who will be travelling interstate to lend a hand.
“We’ll have 15 coming from Toowoomba – they think that much of it they booked it in last year,” he said.
The 100 kilometre round trip usually attracts riders from Stanthorpe, Lismore, Drake, Toowoomba and Tenterfield.
Getting participants isn’t the biggest hurdle however, with donations proving difficult to come by.
“It’s getting harder to get donations – it’s been a hard year for contributions, things are so tight,” Mr Lusty said.
“Everything seems to hit around the same time as Christmas.”
The group will travel north across into Ballandean and Stanthorpe before returning south.
Despite the Queensland Governments push to stamp out the assemblage of bikers, Mr Lusty said Stanthorpe Police were all too happy to help them in promoting a good cause.
“Those rules don’t affect us – Stanthorpe Police have always been good with us,” he said.
While donations are in decline, demand for assistance is on the up.
Mr Lusty said it was never too easy to get people to ask for help though.
“People are probably too proud to ask – nobody should ever be too proud to say they need a little help at Christmas time for their kids.”
Toys and perishable goods can be donated by contacting the Tenterfield Salvation Army on 6736 3587.
The ride will get underway at Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School at 10.30am on Saturday, November 29 and return for a barbecue at 2pm.
