Two of the top local competitors in the ladies division have already come away from the nationals competition and this weekend, 10 junior girls will be looking to bring home a national title.
Physie instructor Rachel Sanders said the judges will be looking for core strength, mastery of the gymnastics style syllabus and a unique flare in each routine.
“The competition is very tough,” she said.
Each of the 10 local girls will be competition against up to 70 of the nation’s best physical culture students, equally as eager for the win.
“You never know what could happen,” Sanders said.
“We’ve taught national winners before.”
She said each of the girls and ladies have put in an outstanding effort in preliminary competitions and to reach the national scale was a credit to them and their club.
Now, it is up to them to make the best of their opportunity in the limelight.
“As long as the girls come away knowing they have done their best, anything else is the icing on the cake,” Sanders said.
The Granite Belt club girls will be competing at Homebush on Sunday, November 23, after a hard year of training and competing locally and inter-zone.
