“It was fabulous,” Race club secretary Milton King said.
“We had about 2000 people again. It’s getting to be one of the big racing events on the calendar now all around the Northern Rivers.”
“The good thing about that is that we had 500 extras last year and we maintained them and even got a few extras so that’s really good when you can do something like that.”
He said the Tenterfield community was a great supporter of the race day, with the Tenterfield Motor Inn sponsoring the coveted Tabulam Cup.
The Errol & Mary O'Driscoll Memorial Cup ran over 1400m and this year went to Casino trained stayer Dictatorship.
It was not the first time jockey Kasie Stanley rode the bay gelding home for the win, with six other recent victories rounding out the stayer’s pedigree.
Dictatorship carried just shy of its heaviest weight to date at 60kg and returned $1.50 to cheering trackside punters.
“We are thrilled with it,” King said.
“We are absolutely thrilled with how the day went and actually we would like to thank all the Tenterfield people who make the effort to come down because it is increasing from that area.”
The club secretary said the event is growing each year, with many reserved seats already booked out for next years event.
