In a BRL meeting on Sunday the committee ousted president Casey O’Connor and appointed Inglewood’s Dolly Bennett his successor.
Stanthorpe has opted to pull away from the BRL while Millmerran has been welcomed into the fray.
The Gremlins had their bid to leave the competition denied by the committee but will seek consideration from further afield.
The Stanthorpe club want to join the Toowoomba Rugby League Competition for 2015 and will now make their case to the Queensland Rugby League Central Division before being given the nod of approval.
Their move and Millmerran’s mean the competition will remain a five team affair but Tenterfield Tigers club president Brendan Minns said he would prefer for Stanthorpe to remain, if only to keep alive their bitter rivalry.
“I’d much rather they stay – we finally get another team to make six, the one extra makes a hell of a difference to the makeup of a season,” he said.
Minns also said he was “sad” to see Casey O’Connor chucked out of the BRL’s top job.
“It’s good to see someone new but I was happy with Casey – it is sad to see him go.”
A swell of off field dramas in 2014 led the committee to favour a shake-up for the upcoming season.
The Tigers have been going about their own post-season routine as they prepare for 2015.
Their recent annual general meeting saw a minor shake-up in committee positions.
Brendan will remain president as well as men’s coach while his father Wayne will continue his role as ladies league tag coach.
Jake Kelly will take on the vice-president’s role while Jess Lockwood is treasurer and Debbie Minns the secretary.
“It’s much the same committee and we’re looking forward to next year in the men’s and to see if the ladies can go back to back,” Minns said.
As it stands the teams for next year’s competition will be Wallangarra, Millmerran, Texas, Killarney and Tenterfield.
Minns said he wasn’t too concerned with Killarney following in Stanthorpe’s footsteps and seeking a move to new pastures.
“The message I got from them on Sunday was that they are here to stick around.”
The club are looking to hold a sign on day in mid-December with pre-season likely to kick off in early January.
