ABC’s Jerry Coleby-Williams, who has been a presenter on the channels Gardening Australia program for 15-years, gave a local gathering his own personal tips for gardening with a twist.
Granite Borders Landcare hosted Mr Coleby-Williams on Friday and Saturday.
“Locals had the opportunity to chat with Gardening Australia presenter Jerry Coleby-Williams at a couple of events over the past weekend,” Mark Thomas from GBLC said.
“Jerry gave a presentation titled ‘21st Century Cottage Gardening’ to a full house at the office of Granite Borders Landcare on Friday evening, sharing his thoughts on gardening using ecologically sustainable principles to create a productive garden.
“He then spoke on ‘The Future of Gardening’ at the Tenterfield Community Gardens on Saturday morning. This presentation focused on actions individuals can take to mitigate the effects of a changing climate and showed how his theories could be applied to properties on any scale,” Mr Thomas said.
Mr Coleby-Williams hosts similar forums at his award winning garden in Brisbane where thousands of visitors drop by annually to share in Jerry’s gardening nous.
As well as being the editor of Organic Gardener magazine, Jerry contributed heavily to the book Gardening Australia – Flora: the gardener’s bible.
“The audience at both of these events were thoroughly engaged and also had the opportunity to have their gardening questions answered by one of Australia’s leading horticulturists,” Mr Thomas said.
