Earlier in the week Stanthorpe Gremlins president Norm Crisp confirmed his club, who were seeking a move to the Toowoomba competition, had been unsuccessful in being granted the shift.
The BRL committee voted to block Stanthorpe's move in order to keep the Gremlins in the competition.
Stanthorpe appealed that decision to QRL Central Division, which heard that appeal at a disputes tribunal in Brisbane which ruled in favour of the BRL’s demands.
News of Millmerran’s decision to remain in the Toowoomba C-Grade competition has been met with surprise.
They had earlier agreed upon the move to the BRL, creating what would have been a 6 team competition next season.
But a new committee opted to revoke that decision and continue as they were.
Tenterfield Tigers president Brendan Minns said all the dramas had left him with a “headache”.
“It’s a shame – we were really excited about it, it was shaping up to be a really good season,” he said.
The latest development has yet again left question marks over Stanthorpe’s future with the potential for the clubs board to submit a new application to move.
“If the reason the Central Division rejected the move was because of the 6 team competition, then I can’t see why they wouldn’t do that,” Minns said.
That could open the Tigers up to an uncertain future with Minns saying they would have to look at their own future should it fall back to four teams.
Looking ahead however, he says the club are excited about continuing their cross-border rivalry with the Gremlins.
“The rivalry between the two is a very healthy one – it’s good, really good that they’re staying,” he said.
