EARLIER: Essential Energy crews are currently onsite in Piora repairing a fault on the powerline following storms that rolled through the area on Thursday.
Around 1850 customers in Urbenville, Drake, Bonalbo, Mallanganee and surrounding areas have been without power since 11am Thursday due to damage the electricity network sustained from the storm.
Extra resources were brought in to assist Casino crews with patrolling the powerline and completing repairs which included vegetation debris over lines, wires down and damaged electrical components.
A helicopter has also been utilised to take a birds eye view of the powerline to ensure are no potential hazards to the network once power is restored.
Essential Energy said it apologises for the extended time customers have been without power but assures customers that crews are working as quickly as safety will allow to restore supply.
The fault in Piora will take a couple of hours to repair following which it is hoped power can be restored.
Essential Energy also apologised that a more accurate estimated time for restoration can not be provided and thanks customers for their patience while our crews work to get the power back on.
