A THREE-DAY working sheep dog trial event attracted plenty of participants to town with the weather throwing out a few obstacles for competitors.

The event which was held from January 24 - 26 welcomed competitors from far and wide.
With dogs and their owners forced to contend with wet conditions and severe heat, organisers said they were happy to wrap things up despite the success.
In the George and Joan Cooper Memorial Award event Queensland took home the honours thanks to the team of Penny O’Niel, Gary Hurtz, Jack Dwan and Dale Formosa.
In the Novice Finals, Dan Bougoure picked up first place with Gary Hurtz second, Dale Formosa third and Jack Dwan fourth.
Stuart Gibbins, Jessica Gall and Narelle Fernance picked up encouragement awards while Errol Brettschneider and Dan Bougoure were awarded for improvement.
In the Open grade Pip Hudson was first with Jack Dwan and Gary Barker also being awarded alongside their dogs Sky, Anzac and Harley.
The event was a strong precursor to the Tenterfield Show’s sheep dog trials next weekend which are usually well contended and viewed.
