The village has a long history with marking the occasion with this year the seventh event in succession to be run.
“I think the women in this community are quite strong – we have a good community here and we’re trying to encourage more input in these things,” organiser Laura Bernadette said.
With all women within the district invited to the event, Ms Bernadette was strongly encouraging the attendance of men too.
“It’s basically for women and their supporters – it gives them an opportunity to show what they’re doing in their lives – it’s not just for women though,” she said.
All around the world, International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
Make It Happen is the 2015 theme, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognising women.
Artists from the region have been invited to participate with an exhibition centred on ‘strength and vulnerability’ the focus.
There will also be live music and poetry readings on the day.
Musicians and artists from Glen Innes, Tenterfield, Bonalbo and Casino are expected to participate.
Ms Bernadette said the event has grown in stature since their inaugural foray and expects this year to be no different.
“There will be an eclectic mix of things happening.”
Following on from the success of the Drake Community Market Day late last year, Laura said this gave the community another reason to come together for a purposeful cause.
The event gets underway at the Big Time Gallery from 11am on March 15.
