Ms Fletcher was a participant in this year’s feature Limousin show in Canberra and claimed top prize with her 12-month-old steer.
Tens of thousands poured into Exhibition Park on the weekend as Ms Fletcher participated in her first outing in the nation’s capital.
The weather was kind at Mitchell, in Canberra’s north, and organisers said the event attracted more than 100,000 visitors through the gate.
For farmers and rural producers the show continues to be an important event in the calendar.
Samantha said the trip was made all the worthwhile after picking up the honour.
“Yep, it was my first time exhibiting at Canberra and it was a Limousin feature show down there this year plus I went working for Select Show Cattle from Delungra.
Her steer won the heavy export class beating over a dozen other hefty steers.
“There were 107 steers in total and 14 in his class which was 501kg and over.
“It is a big achievement to travel all that way and get a blue ribbon at a royal show so I was stoked.
“He was 12 months and 585 kg - a black Limousin bred by us from our Bluff View Limousin stud,” Ms Fletcher said.
In February the same steer won the open led steers and the purebred led steers at the Tenterfield Show.
With such success in her first outing Samantha said she was weighing up heading back down next year.
“Hopefully will have another couple of steers for next year but will have to see how it goes,” she said.
