Events begin tomorrow night with the induction of Perry Condrick as this year’s Oracles Legend and will continue the following morning with the Tenterfield and District Visitors Association brekkie in Bruxner Park.
With preparation wrapping up and activities beginning, organisers are positive this year will be one to remember.
“Entries are up in everything – we are over flowing with entries for the kid’s performances,” Oracles committee president Jann Newman said.
The committee has actively reached out to schools and utilised the talents of seasoned performers.
“We’ve had a lot of help from Russell Plunkett and Gary Fogarty – the students responded very well. They imbued a more personal thing in the kid’s,” Jann said.
With the event centring on Centenary of Anzac some of the entries that have come in from school students have reduced Ms Newman to tears.
“I’ve been very impressed. The thought and depth – some are quite emotional.
“The schools are fantastic, nothing troubles them,” Jann said.
Old favourites such as Dennis Scanlon and Marco Gliori will be joined by Murray Hartin, Peter Mace and country singer Bec Hance.
Organisers are excited for Bec’s introduction to the program and hope it will add something dissimilar to the week’s poetry.
“We always have one singer, a balladeer, and Bec will hopefully break things up a bit,” Oracles committee member Carolynne Newman said.
With tickets flying out the door, Carolynne stressed that people could still get to a raft of events free of expense.
“People can just drop by to things like our Sunday morning Poets Brawl in Jubilee Park.”
Jann said now that the “nitty gritty” planning was behind them, everyone involved was looking forward to enjoying the four day event.
“We’re all looking forward to it – it’ still really fun. We always have quite a few who return every year and enjoy it. The country spirit is welcoming.
“We’ll do it all with a smile,” she said.
