The recently re-elected Member for Lismore, Thomas George will undertake the honour of the official duties.
Mr Joyce will be in Tenterfield for the opening as it follows a promise he made in the midst of the 2013 federal election.
“The lease should be signed in the next couple of weeks and ready for a fit out in April,” Mr Joyce said in January 2014.
A year on from that, and renovation issues behind them, the Agriculture Minister will finally get the chance to cut the ribbon.
The previous Member for New England Tony Windsor had an office in Inverell, but Mr Joyce had stated it was his aim to open an office in the “officially-recognised home of Australia’s Federation”.
Mr Joyce said Tenterfield was a vital and important community in the north of the electorate and its place on the corridor of commerce – the New England Highway.
The proof of that importance, he said was reinforced with Federal Government funding for the Bolivia Hill re-alignment and the Tenterfield Heavy Vehicle Bypass.
Mr Joyce said he was looking forward to using the Tenterfield Electorate Office as a base to service the northern end of the electorate and to undertake meetings with constituents.
The statement comes at the same time as Mr Joyce announced a further $235,000 for the Mt Lindesay Rd project.
“To seal the surface and install delineation and guideposts from Wylie Creek Road to 130m south of Overcliffe Road,” Mr Joyce said.
The cash has come as part of the Federal Government’s black spot funding initiative.
Mr Joyce will be in Tenterfield on Friday, May 1 from 2.30pm to open his office on Rouse St.
