The latest company to claim weight-loss wonders, Isagenix, have found a loyal support base in town with numbers using the product growing rapidly.
Some users have asserted the products have turned their life around with Greg Jackson and Jason Ash some of the more vocal devotees.
Mr Jackson said since beginning the cleanse cycle he has gone from a downward spiral to reclaiming his life.
Greg has lost 23 kilograms since beginning the program in late January of this year.
He says he was inspired by Jason’s own weight turnaround.
“I hadn’t seen him for two months and when I did I was taken aback – you could see he’d changed a lot,” Mr Jackson said.
While he admits scepticism at first, he is now converted.
“I thought it was all hocus pocus. My daughter signed up and I joined underneath her – within a week I had noticed results.”
He says he’d tried all the other diet programs and saw losing two or three kilos as a win – but then he lost five in a week through Isagenix and hasn’t looked back.
His is a similar tale to a number of other locals who have joined the program.
Trevor McFeeters has dropped 26 kilograms in a short period according to the program Mr Jackson said.
“People are saying it’s just another fad – it’s not. I’m at 60 and felt like I was going on 80-years-old.
“I’ve got beautiful young grandkids, the youngest four-years and the oldest is in high school. At Christmas I couldn’t chase them around.
“It’s baby steps – any great journey starts with small steps.
Greg says without the program and the support of others utilising it he said his health could have eventually got the better of him.
“I’d be up the end of Douglas St.”
Jason said the biggest benefit of the program is you don’t need to be an avid and frequent gym goer.
“Some have lost all this weight with no exercise – you don’t have to be a gym junkie.
“This thing is going to explode in the next year or two,” Mr Ash said.
