The Bears and Collegians played off against one another from under 8’s to under 16’s.
Border Bears president Peter Holley said spectators enjoyed a wonderful day of action.
“It was a good day, a big day,” he said.
The under 11’s game was called off part way through after a Bears player suffered three fractured ribs from a tackle.
There were mixed results across the board but Mr Holley said it was proud with how the club performed.
The under 8’s had an 18-12 win, the under 9’s were unlucky and suffered a 22-8 loss while the under 10’s continued their good run of form to win 18-16.
Now into round four of the competition and the under 10’s still remain undefeated.
Mr Holley conceded that Warwick had all the luck in the older grades.
Size was a significant factor with Holley joking about the lack of a KFC or McDonalds in Tenterfield.
“They were all strong and very big kids.”
The under 12’s suffered a 32-4 loss while the under 13’s and 16’s lost their games 36-0 and 42-6 respectively.
“They are all training very well and are very committed – we’ve had heaps of new players come in this year,” Holley said.
The Bears will test their luck this weekend when they travel to Warwick to play Warwick Suburbs.
Their next home game will be played the following weekend when they host Goondiwindi across all grades.
