The Tigers suffered a narrow defeat against Killarney last weekend and were hoping to bounce back on home soil.
Captain/coach Brendan Minns said unforced errors continue to be a worry for the side that have now slipped back into second on the ladder.
“Yet again ball control and discipline was an issue.”
Minns put his hand up for a share of the blame after he was sin binned after getting drawn into a toe to toe tussle.
Both Minns and a Wallangarra player were sent from the game with minutes left on the clock and the game at 28 - 26 in Tenterfield’s favour.
Wallangarra took advantage and scored with seconds left to pick up a memorable 32 - 28 win.
“We started slow again and were first to let in points in both half’s – we allowed them to walk out of their own end time and time again,” he said.
“We’re just trying to score off every set instead of working for a repeat set.”
Minns says the issue of player retention and stability has made things difficult and he believes its impacting their on-field fluidity.
Coedie Tandy stared for Wallangarra and Minns said the former Killarney player led to their demise.
Tiger’s player Jack Daniels had a strong game in his last outing for the side as he prepares to head north to Longreach.
“He’s been a standout player and it will be sad to see him go but we wish him all the best,” Minns said.
The Tigers now travel to Stanthorpe to face the Gremlins and will play for the Patron Cup as added incentive.
“They’re definitely the team to beat – we could be looking down the barrel of three losses if we aren’t careful.
“We’ll have to stop their big forward pack.”
The Gremlins beat Killarney 32 – 22 over the weekend and rose to top of the BRL ladder in the process.
The Tigers enjoyed their first hit-out in Reserve Grade on Saturday with a positive 32 – 10 win.
“For a bunch of boys thrown together they played really well.”
The ladies league tag side also continue to dominate the competition with a comfortable 28 – 6 win.
A date has been announced for the Tiger’s Pink Day with July 18 at home against Wallangarra the day for the fundraising initiative Minns said.
