Tenterfield was largely left out of the funding allocations which saw $63 million go toward the Lismore hospital redevelopment.
Nearly $7 million was put aside for local councils to undertake road maintenance and Member for Lismore Thomas George predicted Tenterfield could receive some of that cash windfall.
Mr George said there were “no other bigger items” for Tenterfield in the budget.
However, he indicated his support for the budget saying he was “thrilled” with the announcements.
“The hard work of the NSW Government over the last four years is now benefitting everyone across the state.
“I am extremely pleased that funding has been allocated for Stage 3b of Lismore Base Hospital’s redevelopment.
“This will mean construction will continue seamlessly through to completion,” Mr George said.
Mr George said road works on the Mt Lindesay Road would continue owing to previously allocated funds.
Money has been earmarked for works on the Bruxner Highway and Summerland Way as well as funds to continue planning on the Tabulam Bridge.
A further $2.2 million was announced for aboriginal housing, $1.1 million for social housing upgrades and $1 million for community transport.
Mr George said he wasn’t aware at this stage whether Tenterfield would benefit from any of those funds.
NSW Treasurer Gladys Berejiklian’s first budget is in surplus by $2.1 billion with infrastructure spending in NSW over four years a record $68.6 billion.
“We are also delivering record services, whether it is in health, education, transport or family or community services, and each of these key areas has seen growth in their budgets from last year of more than five per cent,” Ms Berejiklian said.
