Tenterfield were set to host the Cutters ahead of their impending A-grade semi-final against Wallangarra but the depleted side forfeit with a rumoured eight players only available to make the game.
The ladies side travelled and gave the undefeated Tenterfield side an early scare.
After only 15 minutes into the game Killarney were leading 18-12.
The Tigers were desperate to hold onto their unbeaten tag and turned the game around in impressive fashion.
“They really put the foot down,” Club president Brendan Minns said.
“Killarney had some favourable bounces and loose balls and were a bit lucky early on.”
The girls didn’t allow Killarney to cross in the second half and ran out 40-18 winners.
“They know the whole season means nothing if they can’t wrap it up in two weeks,” Minns said.
After a disappointing performance against Stanthorpe in their last fixture Tenterfield were eager to put in a solid showing before the business end of the 2015 season.
Minns said it was a blow to not have a game before they face Wallangarra this weekend.
Especially after the Rams shocked Stanthorpe 38-6 in Saturday’s other game.
“It’s hard as we wanted to try rectify a few issues we found against Stanthorpe. We wanted to bounce back and work on our defence.
“We’ll just have to do our best now,” Minns said.
Stanthorpe won their reserve grade game meaning Tenterfield’s reserve side will also have to turn out again this Saturday to try book their grand final spot.
It will be a big day for the Tenterfield and Wallangarra clubs as they play one another in ladies, reserves and A-grade.
Rugby League Park will host the games and the day will get underway with the Border Bears playing a number of games.
“They’ll (Wallangarra) be confident after playing well on Saturday.
“They’ve got that many in their side that are a danger, if we concentrate on one it will be our end,” Minns said.
The Bears games will begin at 8.30am with the Tigers ladies playing at 2.15pm, A-grade at 3.15pm and the reserves rounding out the day with their game at 5pm.
