The App was launched on Thursday allowing people their first taste of the finished project.
The new phone App, Soundtrails, has been developed to showcase the town through oral stories accessible with an iPhone or Android.
In front of students, parents and curious locals, St Joseph’s held an official launch in Bruxner Park to mark the next step in local tourism.
Megan Flynn from St Josephs has been a hands on helper since the get go and she said the production would allow people to “connect to each other and connect to the community”.
“It preserves the cultural heritage of our town,” she said.
“People can look at some of the lesser known stories and gems of our town.”
Anne Sullivan from the Catholic Schools Office was a guest attendee at the launch and she wound back the years to quote former PM John Howard.
“He said he wanted history to be taught different in our schools… well we finally made it in 2015.
“We’re launching the expedition into cyber space right here in Tenterfield,” Ms Sullivan said.
She credited St Josephs for leaping ahead of the pack with the completed project.
“We’re the first education system in the world to tell history in this way.
“I laughed, cried and giggled and enjoyed every moment of listening to it.”
Program co-ordinator Hamish Sewell was an apology for the event but Ms Flynn credited him for his 12 months of collaboration.
The Catholic Schools Diocese funded the project with Tenterfield Shire Council having an active role too.
