The pair beat out a huge amount of other stores to claim the award for Retailer of the Year for NSW/ACT.
Mr Everett said the news came as a ‘bit of a shock’ to the pair who had travelled to Auckland to attend the awards and Go Vita conference.
The annual awards are run in conjunction with a conference for representatives from every Go Vita store in Australia.
Tim said they’d taken the opportunity to have a family holiday for a week to coincide with the event.
There wasn’t too much unruly celebration with the couple celebrating by going home to the kids.
“We weren’t expecting it – we think of ourselves as a little shop,” Tim said.
Every store was in contention, with no shortlist of nominees or clues as to who would prevail.
Rebecca said to beat out competition from significantly bigger stores in metro areas like Sydney was “very exciting”.
“We’ve put a lot of work in. Without the locals we don’t have a shop though.
“We’re pretty pleased as we’ve put a lot of hard work in.”
How and who judged them remains a mystery with Rebecca suspecting an unidentified Go Vita representative must have dropped in at some point to run the rule over the shop.
“I think they look at growth, new products, we’ve moved up in size of the store – we’ve done a lot. I think it’s all taken into account,” Rebecca said.
