Since taking out the crown Annabel has been put to work by the Show Society and says she’s loved every day in the role.
With preparation and discussion in full swing for the 2016 Tenterfield Show, she’s busily helping organisers pull things into place.
The committee will hold their final meeting for 2015 this week before returning in January.
She’s been handed the role of Trade Space Steward and while a little murky on what the position entails, she’s looking forward to playing her part.
“I don’t know what it’s about yet. Sue Jurd is training me up,” she said.
The Overell family have a long affiliation with the bottle pantry section and Annabel says she’ll likely have a hand in the display next year.
“To nan and mum it’s a big deal – all the jams and jellies. It will be very highly contested.”
Hot in her mind is planning for the Tenterfield Showgirls in 2016 as well as her participation in the regional event.
She’s already started the search for willing participants and says she’d be happy to get around five girls over the age of 18.
Annabel is one of a number of young faces now at the helm of the Show Society committee and she believes they’re onto a good thing.
The 2016 show will be true to tradition but she says the committee are eager to shake things up a little.
Part of that will come in the form of a movie fundraiser on January 14 at the Tenterfield Cinema for the first session of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
A movie meal deal will be in place with funds from the day set to go toward helping the Show Society.
With her reign winding down Annabel says it’s been a life-changing adventure.
“It’s been really good fun – I’ve been made to do things maybe I wouldn’t have before.
“It’s been pretty smooth sailing to here… touch wood.”
Once she hands over the crown she still plans to stick around in the Show Society committee.
“They may not have me though – I’m told at meetings I can be too naughty and loud.”
