Young Sportsperson of the Year went to George Jones who has achieved an enviable amount at such a young age.
It was the second successive year George received the award.
He was crowned Tenterfield High School’s Senior Sportsperson of the Year in 2015 and was recognised with a Pierre de Coubertin Award for his achievements in sport.
He cleaned up in school swimming and athletics, represented the New England and North West in multiple sports and was involved in the NSW Combined High School Athletics event at Homebush.
George was also an integral member of the Ballandean men’s side that won Stanthorpe Football’s 2015 competition and was a part of the competitions representative side.
“It’s a great honour to accept this award from doing something I really, really love,” he said.
Sportsperson of the Year was handed to a man who has been involved with rugby league in Tenterfield for over forty years.
Wayne Minns was selected for his continued coaching, volunteer support, committee participation and the overall mark he’s left on the Tenterfield Tigers.
He’s led a ladies league tag team to back to back competition wins and is also involved with the Tenterfield Poultry Club and Pony Club.
