Mayor Peter Petty said he’ll be disappointed to see Ms Jackson leave after she announced she would stand down from her role in early March.
“Although sorry to see the general manager go, Lotta goes with our best wishes and I know the community of Tenterfield shire will join me in wishing her well,” Cr Petty said.
Ms Jackson has accepted an executive position within the Primary Healthcare Network assisting with implementing the government's healthcare reform agenda.
Her resignation ends a four year stint in the council top job.
Ms Jackson took over the position in March 2012 following the abrupt departure of Jim Gossage.
“I am proud of our collective achievements over this period and I also wish to thank the community of Tenterfield shire and our local state and federal members for their encouragement and support in making these projects happen,” Ms Jackson said.
“Further, I personally want to thank the mayor for his support and our excellent team work in complimenting each other for the benefit of the Tenterfield shire community,” she said.
Her announcement comes a month after a no confidence motion was tabled against her by two councillors.
Cr Don Forbes and Cr Blair Maxwell put together a no confidence motion which was defeated at an extraordinary meeting on December 23, five votes to two.
Cr Petty said the process had ‘denigrated’ council’s image but Ms Jackson said it hadn’t impacted her decision.
“No, but it has saddened me as a professional that something like that can happen when my performance has been consistently judged by the councillors as ‘exceeding expectations’,” she said.
In her resignation Ms Jackson outlined some of the key achievements made in her time.
Remediation of the waste transfer station and landfills, introduction of fluoridation in the water supply, introduction of recycling, adoption and completion of mainstreet and Bruxner Park works, enhancement of tourism marketing, signing of a memorandum of understanding with Southern Downs Regional Council and works on a number of road projects including Mt Lindesay Rd were some of the notable mentions.
“Our loss will be the health industry’s gain. The dedication, passion and time Lotta put into the position of general manager will never be forgotten,” Cr Petty said.
