SUCH is the impact left by the late Aubrey Gillespie, roads in Tenterfield will be temporarily closed in his honour on Monday to allow a funeral procession.

"In conjunction with Tenterfield Police and local funeral services, JP Cooper and Son, Tenterfield Shire Council advises that the New England Highway in Tenterfield will be closed to all traffic on Monday, February 8 between 12pm to 12:30pm as follows, to allow a funeral procession to proceed for the late Aubrey Gillespie," Tenterfield Shire Council general manager Lotta Jackson said.
"Miles Street: Crown to New England Highway (Rouse Street), New England Highway (Rouse Street): Miles to Molesworth Street.
"A detour for northbound traffic will be in place for light vehicles only via Douglas Street. For southbound traffic the detour will be via Pelham Street.
"For northbound traffic travelling to the Bruxner Highway the detour will be via Douglas Street then Logan Street. For southbound traffic travelling to the Bruxner Highway the detour will be via Naas Street then Logan Street," Ms Jackson said.
Heavy vehicles will not be permitted to use the detours at this time.
"Motorists are requested to pay particular attention to the advance warning signposting erected in these streets and obey the directions of traffic controllers," Ms Jackson said.
Aubrey Gillespie passed away on Monday afternoon at the age of 95.
Locals have been encouraged to say goodbye to Aub by lining the streets on Monday between 12 and 12.30pm.
Requiem Mass will be held for Aub at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic Church Tenterfield on Monday from 10.30am, followed by internment at Tenterfield Lawn Cemetery.
