The Tenterfield Child Care Centre applied for just under $6,000 to build a new storage shed to house their playground equipment and other items.
Centre Manager, Nicole Foster, said the existing shed, which was built many years ago, is dilapidated and lets water in, which has ruined some of their equipment.
“The grant will enable us to build a brand new, much larger shed to house our equipment. It will be a wonderful asset for our centre both now and into the future,” Ms Foster said.
Ms Foster said the Tenterfield Child Care Centre had very limited funds but have a small group of parents who are willing to build the new shed.
“Our parents will be giving up their time to remove all of the equipment from the existing shed, remove the shed from the premises and help construct a concrete slab for the new shed. We are looking forward to the day when the new shed is a reality,” Ms Foster said.
More than $5000 was approved for Ten FM. The grant will be used to help install air conditioning in the office space as well as computer protection equipment.
The Deepwater and Districts Community Radio was also approved for a grant of up to $20,000 for the relocation, refurbishment and expansion of 2CBD Community Radio.
Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, welcomed the announcement that three local organisations would receive much-needed funding.
