The Under 8’s kicked off with a win 28-12 and new signings Kody Halliday and Ava Mitchell played well. Under 9’s played out a 12-all draw with Oska Zappa tackling everything that moved.
Under 10’s went down narrowly and coach Scott Bates was pleased with the effort from all of his new look team. Under 11’s thumped Hornets 46-12 in a good team performance with Braith Clark and Jackson O’Neill leading the charge.
Under 12’s went down 30-24 in the closest match of the day but coach Tim Annand was still pleased with his team’s first hit out with Brody Chapman scoring on debut. The Suburbs league tag girls forfeited but an exhibition game was held with the Tigress squad playing some good footy.
Campbell Saccon unleashed in the under 14’s with some devastating runs and was well supported by JJ Cusack in defence as Tigers ran out 40-12 winners.
The final game was a mismatch as Suburbs struggled for numbers and were soundly beaten 70-12 by a well-drilled Dave Landers-coached side.
The “Gibbo” round was a huge success for Dave and Jess , with numerous raffles and an auction the club raised $3800 towards their cause. Thank you to all who helped out with donations of goods and those who bought tickets and auction items.
