Member for Lismore Thomas George announced a total of $50,000 in NSW Government funding for local sporting organisations as part of the 2015/16 Local Sport Grant Program. Physie gets $2,050 while the junior footballers receive $5,433.
Physie’s head associate teacher Jude Hayne said the money will go towards improving the flooring at the Scout Hall where the club meets.
“The floor’s sturdy, it’s just old,” she said.
The club is already in the process of sanding, sealing and gap-filling to make the surface more physie-friendly.
Peter Holley, Tenterfield Junior Rugby League Football Club president, said that while the committee will meet next week to decide where its grant funding will go, it’s likely to be on repairs to the commentary box and some work on the bottom field.
Mr George said the main aim of this program is to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport and active recreation in NSW.
“Sport is a huge part of our way of life and the NSW Government recognises that,” he said.
“The NSW Government is committed to delivering the best infrastructure to the people of NSW and I look forward to seeing the benefits of this upgrade for the community.”
