Ewan was playing on the stepped area on the Rouse St side of the stage when he ran into one of the grey crossbeams in dim light, splitting open his forehead and requiring an ambulance trip and stitches.
Council will now temporarily use lattice between the uprights while vines are being established to fill the gaps, with arrangements currently being made with the contractor for the installation. A council spokesperson advised that rubber covers for the edge of the beans are still being evaluated and may be installed, depending upon the effectiveness of the latticework.
The area is also being lit to improve visibility.
