The week started with the weigh-in on Sunday afternoon with all the team passing. Monday started with two games with the team being successful with both games and continued on Tuesday with another two wins.
Wednesday the team had a rest day with a sports day instead. The Macintyre team had another successful day winning the sports events and team relay, just missing out on the tug-of-war.
Thursday started against Balonne Barwon who were also on the same points as us (Macintyre), both teams were strong and skilled with the Macintyre scoring first, but missed the conversion. Ten minutes later Balonne Barwon scored and converted and that’s the way the score stayed for the next 30 minutes with Balonne Barwon winning 6–4 over Macintyre. The next game that afternoon was a win, placing us in second place overall.
Friday morning Macintyre came up against South Burnett who were in third place. Unfortunately the team had a few lapses and couldn’t get the win leaving us second overall.
It was a great effort by all the players over the five days. Congratulations to all.
Macintyre had four players selected into the city side to play the city v country. Braithe Clarke, Fletcher Koch, Luke Preston and Will Holley all showed why they made the city side. Congrats again.
Tenterfield player Will Holley was named best back of the carnival.
Awards to Tenterfield players in the Macintyre team were Fletcher Koch – best forward, Braithe Clarke – best back, Georgia Battersby – most improved. Heath Green (Goondiwindi) - sportsmanship award, Lachlan Brennan (Goondiwindi) - coaches award, Emerson Brown (Goondiwindi) – managers award.
Once again congratulations to all players for efforts and their conduct for the five days.
