Over the weeks the café has raised an impressive $500. At the school’s formal assembly on Monday, August 1 the volunteers presented Mrs Thea McKenzie from the Tenterfield Cancer Support Group with this money to support the community.
The group assists people living with cancer and other palliative illnesses. In addition to emotional support, if requested, the group also has an inventory of equipment that it can lend out to those requiring aides to make caring for patients in their home at little easier.
Group president Jane Hynes said she is very appreciative of the community support, and especially in how this donation reflects the students’ awareness and commitment to needs in their community, and their desire to help.
